Charles Lamar Barnett, Sr., age 89, passed away Sunday morning, December 4, 2016, at the State Veterans Home in Oxford, MS. Mr. Barnett was the widower of the late Dolores W. "Dr. B" Barnett.Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church near Batesville, MS with interment to follow in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, December 7, 2016,  at Wells Funeral Home from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. Reverend Wes Sherman will officiate the service. Charles was born July 13, 1927 to the late Albert Jack Barnett and Velma Johnson Barnett in Panola County, MS. Mr. Barnett was a retired cattle farmer and minister. He is a member of Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. Those left behind to cherish his loving memory include his 2 sons; Dr. Charlie Barnett (Kim) of Batesville, and Albert Gene Barnett of Huntsville, AL, 2 brothers; Bobby Barnett of Batesville and Hugh Barnett of Batesville, and 4 Grandchildren.In lieu of flowers the family asked for those wishing to send memorial contributions to please do so to Pilgrims Rest Cemetery Fund at 44225 Hwy 315, Water Valley, MS 38965
