Edgar Lee (Ed) Burks, 67, of Ellisville passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Laurelwood Community Living Center.A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel, MS with visitation beginning at 9 a.m. Arnold Kelley will officiate. The family will hold a visitation from 9:30 to 10:00 on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at Wells Funeral Home in Batesville MS. followed by a graveside service at 10:30 a.m at Forrest Memorial Park in Batesville. Mr. Burks served in the United States Army with a tour in the Vietnam War. He was a coil winder at Howard Industries for 25 years and was also a member of Laurel Church of Christ.He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Ann Darby Burks of Ellisville; daughter Amy Burks, of Ellisville; and daughter Jennifer Burks Whitten, son-in-law Chris Whitten, and grandchildren Carson Whitten and Addison Whitten, of Houston, Texas. He is also survived by one brother, Jody Burks of Grenada; and three sisters; Inez Ross of Tucson, Arizona, Margaret Simmons of Grenada, and Ann Pittman of Batesville; and a host of nieces and nephews.Pallbearers will be Chris Whitten, Mike Flynn, David Darby, Joe Dettor, Gerald Little, and Gary Darby. Honorary pallbearer will be his grandson, Carson Whitten.
