James Homer Massey

James Homer Massey, age 73, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, TN. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at New Hope Church of God, 209 West St., Batesville, MS, with interment to follow in Forrest Memorial Park in Batesville, MS. The family will be receiving friends Monday evening, September 19, 2016, from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Wells Funeral Home and also one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church. Mr. Massey was born November 28, 1942 in Sabino, MS to the late Homer and Alice Hardin Massey. He was a retired farmer who loved the outdoors. Mr. Massey enjoyed hunting, feeding birds, camping and playing dominoes, but his greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family. He faithfully attended New Hope Church of God in Batesville, MS. Those who will cherish his memory most, will be his wife of fifty-two years, Beverly Jane Turner Massey of Batesville, MS; daughter, Keren Massey Lott (Trent) of Sebastopol, MS; two sons, James Homer "Jimmy" Massey, Jr. (Carol) of Horn Lake, MS, Michael "Ty" Massey (Laura) of Batesville, MS. He is also survived by a son and daughter in love, Keith and Trina Murphree and two grandchildren in love of Enid, MS; two sisters, Dot Massey Gaines of Thomson, GA, Carol Massey Morehead of Batesville, MS; and his ten grandchildren. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Hope Church of God Building Fund, 207 West St., Batesville, MS 38606.
