Ruby Jones Bolen, 91, of Batesville died September 15, 2016 peacefully in her home surrounded by friends and family. She was the widow of the late Birl M. Bolen. She was born August 6, 1925, to the late Abram E. Jones and Lillian Coggins Jones.
Funeral services for Mrs. Bolen will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 18, 2016 in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home in Batesville, MS. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 prior to the service. Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Batesville. Reverend Keith Bolen will officiate.
Mrs. Bolen had been a life-long member of Enon Baptist Church since August 6, 1949. She served the Lord starting in the nursery then taught children, youth, and senior ladies' classes in Sunday School for 62 years. She also taught Training Union, served as Bible Drill Leader, taught Vacation Bible School and served on many committees.
Survivors include: three Daughters, Carolyn Bolen Toliver of Batesville, Margaret Bolen Darby of Tupelo, and Linda Bolen Respess (Charley) of Crowder; one Son, Kenny Bolen (Melissa) of Batesville; eight Grandchildren, Ronnie Toliver of Crowder, David Toliver (Sandy) of Ballwin, MO, Meloney Whitfield (Louis) of Tupelo, Tamara Respess-Ebe (Steve) of Nashville, TN, Lance Respess of Nashville, TN, Megan Willoughby (Charles) of Hernando, Kristy Jones (Bo) of Batesville, and Amanda Johnson (Michael) of Courtland; six Great Grandchildren, Allie Whitten (Whit) of Brandon, MS, Hunter Toliver (Kayla) of Batesville, Makinley Wilson and Grady Beck Wilson, both of Batesville, Abbey Kate Johnson and Lori Johnson, both of Courtland; four Great Great Grandchildren, Jarett Toliver, Bradley Toliver, Turner Toliver, and Saylee Toliver of Batesville, Son-in-Law, R.V. Draper; Two special nieces, Kat Yarbrough and Alice Shields; Sisters, Pat Mettetal (Jimmy) of Batesville, Ellen Van Hoozer of Amory, MS, Sue Eads Pearson (Joe) of Batesville.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Bolen was preceded in death by daughters; Mary Bolen Draper and Helen Bolen Stroup; Grandson, Brian Keith Faulkner; brothers, Fred Jones and Gene Jones; sisters, Evelyn Roper, Ethel Bass and Mary Rice; Sons-in-Law, Bobby Carlisle, Mike Toliver, Jerry Darby and Jerry Stroup.
