Boyd Clayton Goodnight, Sr.

Mr. Boyd Clayton Goodnight, Sr., age 89, passed away today, August 19, 2016 at Merit Health in Batesville, MS. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, August 21, 2016 in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with entombment to follow in Forrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one prior to the service. Boyd was born June 8, 1927 in Panola county to Washington Simpson and Susie Lee Graves Goodnight. He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church. Boyd retired after thirty-three years of service as a city dispatcher for Wilson Freight Lines in Memphis, TN. He was a 33 degree Mason and also a Shriner in Memphis, TN. During his spare time, Boyd got great pleasure from restoring older automobiles and tractors. Boyd leaves behind his wife of sixty-eight years, Patsy Holt Goodnight of Batesville, MS, daughter, Sandra Goodnight Mickey (Scott) of Mandeville, LA; two sons, Boyd Clayton Goodnight, Jr. (Faye Briscoe) of Southaven, MS, Billy Eugene Goodnight (Linda Warren) of Batesville, MS; three sisters, Lillian Goodnight Prince of Batesville, MS, Bobbie Goodnight Leeton of Batesville, MS, Lorene Goodnight Abbey of Jackson, MS; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
