Douglas Norman Teal, 62, passed away Friday June 12, 2009 at his home in Olive Branch, MS after losing his battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Virgil and Margaret Lula Baldwin Teal and his brother, James Walter Teal. Doug was born September 12, 1946 and served in the Air Force. He is survived by his devoted companion of 18 years, Judy Martin, who took care of him with the help of the hospice nurses until the end. He leaves behind to cherish his memory 2 sons, Michael Dean Teal of Joplin, MO and Daniel William Teal of Forrest City, AR and 3 daughters, Traci Ann Teal of Joplin, MO, Julie Ward (Darrin) of Hernando, MS and Pam O’Neal (Gary) of Sarah, MS. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren.
There will be a Memorial Service celebrating his life on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at 10:30 am at First Presbyterian Church of Hernando, MS. There will be a private ceremony, to be held at a later date, to lay Doug in his final resting place at West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation for all of the prayers, cards and support during this difficult time and would like to sincerely thank the staff from Asera Care Hospice for the exceptional care. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any memorials be sent to The American Cancer Society.
