Michael Wayne Darby, Sr.

Michael Wayne "Mike" Darby Sr., age 65, passed away Thursday afternoon, July 14, 2016 at Merit Health in Batesville, MS. Funeral services for Mike will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 17, 2016 at Willow Springs Assembly of God in Enid, MS. The family will receive friends at Wells Funeral Home Saturday evening from 5:00 to 8:00. Interment will follow the service at Magnolia Cemetery in Batesville. Born January 23, 1951 to the late Eddie Carl Darby and Minnie Ella Darby in Batesville, MS, Mike was a devoted member of Willow Springs Assembly of God. He served as church secretary, deacon, and Sunday School teacher. Mike was a farmer by trade. He was the manager of Yocona Gin for 10 years. Mike served as Supervisor of District 3 from 1992 to 1996, where he was the President of the Board of Supervisors. Mike was the first MS FFA President to be from Batesville and a former President of the FFA Chapter at Mississippi State University. Those left behind to cherish Mike's memory include his loving wife, Johnnie King Darby of Pope, his daughter, Mandy Darby Christopher (John) of Brandon, MS, 2 sons; Michael Wayne Darby, Jr. (Jennifer) of Batesville and Richie Darby (Courtney) also of Batesville, 2 brothers; Tommy Darby (Sherry) of Enid, and Charley Darby (Lisa) of Enid, and a host of nieces and nephews.
