Katie Murphree Brewer

Katie Murphree Brewer, age 79, passed away Thursday Evening, June 16, 2016 at her home in Union, MS. Ms. Brewer is the widow of the late Charles R. "Bob" Brewer. Funeral services for Mrs. Brewer will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 19, 2016 in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. The family will receive friends beginning at 12 noon prior to the service. Interment will follow at Forrest Memorial Park in Batesville. Katie was born August 9, 1936 in Panola County, MS to the late Hafford and Ethel Sandidge Murphree. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Batesville, MS, and also in Union, MS. Katie worked a number of years for Delta State University in the business office. When she wasn't working, Katie enjoyed working in her yard and flower beds. Her most joyful times came while spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Those left behind to cherish her memory include her daughter, Valorie Brewer Westbrook (Ronnie) of Decatur, MS; son, Charles Randall "Randy" Brewer (Malia) of Batesville, MS; sister, Glenda Scoggins of Richland, MS; brother, Loamie Murphree of Batesville, MS; four grandchildren, Warren Hastings Westbrook (Krystal), Robert Bailey Westbrook (Rachel), Matthew Tyler Brewer (Whitney), Amanda Jean Brewer; three great-grandchildren, Anna Kate Westbrook, Willow June Brewer and Laya Claire Westbrook.
