Johnnie Alvin Johnson, age 72, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2016 at his home in Batesville, MS. Funeral services for Mr. Johnson will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 18, 2016 in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home in Batesville, MS. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 prior to the service. Johnnie was born in Memphis, TN to the late Leroy Johnson and Frances Irene Warren Johnson. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Johnnie was an electrician by trade. He enjoyed listening to country music, gardening, watching sports and cooking. His favorite teams were the Kansas City Chiefs and the Oklahoma Sooners. Those left behind to cherish his memory include 2 daughters; Carol Ashby of Locke Station, Angie Hinton of Batesville, 1 son; Johnny Johnson Jr., of Olive Branch, 1 sister, Charlotte Johnson of Steele, MO., 2 brothers; Barney Johnson of Owens Crossroads, AL., Roy Lee Johnson of Missouri, 3 Grandchildren, and 2 Great Grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Johnnie is preceded in death by 1 son, Sammy Lewis Hazzard Johnson, 3 sisters; Edna Wiseman, Ann Scroggins, and Virginia McLemore, and 2 brothers; Billy Johnson and Richard Johnson.
