Leon Braswell

Leon Braswell passed away April 13, 2016 at his home in Oakland, MS. Funeral services for Mr. Braswell will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Hosanna Worship Center in Pope, MS. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 Friday evening at Wells Funeral Home in Batesville MS. Interment will follow the service at Long Creek Cemetery. Reverend Rayford Ables will officiate the service. Leon was born September 9, 1931 to the late John Braswell and Dovie Braswell in Forrest City AR. He was a welder, sawmill worker and farmer during his lifetime. Leon was a member of the Joy Club and Hosanna Worship Center. Those left behind to cherish his memory include 3 sons; Danny Braswell of Jonesboro, AR., Ricky Braswell of West Helena AR., and David Braswell of Jonesboro, AR., step daughter; Carolyn Beavers of Batesville, MS, sister; Lois Hislip of Aubrey, AR., daughter in law; Betty Elliot of Oakland, MS., 10 granddaughters, 4 grandsons, 22 great grandchildren, 16 great great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Leon is preceded in death by his wife, Lizzie Marie Poynor Braswell.
