Dalton Ray Martin

Dalton Ray Martin, age 88, passed away Saturday morning, January 30, 2016 at Baptist Memorial Hospital of North MS in Oxford, MS. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, February 1, 2016 at Sardis Lake Baptist Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery. Reverend Kevin Crofford will be officiating the service. The family of Mr. Martin will receive friends Sunday evening, January 31, 2016, from 5:00 - 8:00 at Sardis Lake Baptist Church. Mr. Martin was born January 18, 1928 in Fairview, KY to the late Luther Henry and Myrtle Lee Stokes Martin. He retired after twenty-five years of service from the City of Memphis, TN having worked within the Memphis Light, Gas and Water department. Mr. Martin also honorable and faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army during WW II. Following his retirement, he and his wife became longtime and faithful members of Sardis Lake Baptist Church. He memory will be cherished by his loving wife, Christine Holmes Martin of Sardis, MS; two sons, Sherman Martin of Byhalia, MS, Ricky Martin of Batesville, MS; eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
