Funeral Services and visitation will both be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at Wells Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday and continue until the 1:00 p.m. funeral service. Interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery, Batesville, MS. Reverend Martin Case and Reverend Pat Ludlam will officiate the service.
Mr. Egbert was a retired mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He was also the former owner of the Skyline Motel in Batesville. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
John Egbert was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 4, 1927 to Ralph P. & Helen Elizabeth Bloomfield Egbert.
He is survived by his 2 sons: Ralph Myer Egbert and wife Sandra of Batesville, MS, and John Chester Egbert and wife Gretchen of Moss Point, MS; 7 Grandchildren: Bill Egbert of Batesville, MS, Megan Egbert of Jackson, MS; Clint Egbert of Batesville, MS, John Micah Egbert of Laurel, MS, Chelsea Egbert and Austin Egbert of Moss Point, MS; 1 Great Grandchild: Tyler Egbert
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Plumb & Helen Elizabeth Bloomfield Egbert; his wife: Bertha Dell Fisher Egbert, one son: Larry Thomas Egbert and one sister: Lois Egbert Webb, and one grandchild: William Chase Egbert.
