Alton L. Gillen, Jr.

Alton L. Gillen, Jr., age 77, passed away at his home in Mesa, Az. on Monday, April 13, 2009. Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 18, 2009 at Marks Cemetery in Marks, MS. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Friday, April 17, 2009 at Wells Funeral Home. Reverend Rayford Ables will officiate the service. Alton was born December 31, 1931 in Marks, MS to the late Alton Lynn Gillen, Sr. and Nora Dew Gillen. Mr. Gillen was a retired cattleman and real estate agent, and he was also a U.S. Air Force Veteran. Mr. Gillen is survived by his four daughters: Mary Nell Stokes and husband Lee of Crystal River, FL, Martha Ann McClain and husband Charles of Alpharetta, GA, Melissa Perrin and husband Donald of Lacanto, FL and Melinda Gonzalez and husband Darryl of Clermont, FL. He leaves his former wife and mother of the children Jo Ann Dixon-Gillen Sassard of Crystal River, FL and his loving companion Carolyn Schock of Mesa, AZ. He also leaves behind six grandchildren: Justin and Heather McClain of Sterling, VA, Bryan and Melissa Ann Gonzalez of Clermont, FL and Eric Stokes and Reese Hammond of Crystal River, FL. Mr. Gillen was preceded in death by his sister, Myrtle Darling.
