McClain age 88 died Sunday morning 4/5/09 at his home 207 Calvary Street of Batesville, Mississippi. Thomas is the husband of Thelma Marie Conditt McClain. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2009 at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home. Reverend Jerry Richards and Reverend Chet Bush will officiate the service. Burial will be in Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Batesville, MS. Thomas Angus McClain was born in Ecorse, Michigan on September 16, 1920 to David S. and Ida Weller McClain. He was the third of four children, with two older brothers (David and Donald) and younger sister (Miriam). When Angus, as he was known then, was a teenager, the family moved to California. After graduating High School, he attended and graduated from Pacific Bible College and Pasadena College in preparation for a life of pastoral ministry. While at the Pacific Bible College he met and married Thelma Marie Conditt on December 21, 1941. They have two children, Stanley and Esther. The McClain’s had had a fruitful ministry of over 45 years including pastorates in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Nevada, Oklahoma, Iowa and Mississippi. Reverend McClain was a life-long soul winner. There are a whole host of people in heaven who welcomed him home last Sunday morning and thanked him for introducing them to Jesus. Left to mourn his loss and celebrate his life are his dear wife Thelma; son Stanley and wife Ilona; daughter Esther and husband jerry; five grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and three great- great grandchildren. And a great number of friends and former parishioners. Pastor McClain was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sister.
