Bennie Mason

Bennie Mason, age 75, passed away Sunday morning, October 4, 2015 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, TN. Mr. Mason is the husband of Johnie Keen Mason. The family will hold a memorial service for Mr. Mason at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at Black Jack Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends at 9:00 a.m. prior to the service. Dr. Don Howie and Dr. Douglass Sullivan-Gonzalez will officiate the service. Bennie was born July 22, 1940 to the late Richard Lawrence Mason, Sr. and Georgia Wilson Mason in Panola County, MS. Bennie was a proud farmer during his lifetime and a member of Black Jack Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon, elder, and treasurer, as well as helping with the youth for many years. Mr. Mason proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a mechanic. Those left behind to cherish his memory include his wife of 51 years, Johnie Keen Mason of Sardis, MS. 2 children, Sonya Mason Edwards (Mark) of Pascagoula, MS, Karen Mason Kitchens (James) of Corpus Christi, TX, 2 brothers, John Thomas Mason of Batesville MS, and Ralph Mason (Margaret)of Sardis, MS. In addition to his parents, Bennie was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Richard Lawrence Mason, Jr., Jim Mason, and 1 sister, Jessie "Sissy" Younker.
