Doris C. Hunt

Doris C. Hunt, age 84, passed away Monday afternoon, July 27, 2015, at her daughter's home in Peachtree City, GA. Mrs. Hunt is the widow of the late Hugh R. Hunt. Funeral services for Mrs. Hunt will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 30, 2015 in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Oakland, MS. Rev. Keith Gaugh and Rev. Robert Allen will officiate. Those honored to serve as pall bearers are Guary Hunt, Mike Castle, Gary Castle, Allen Castle, Don Castle, and John Hardy. Doris was born October 14, 1930 in Merigold, MS to the late Ira Castle and Lucille Stoker Castle. She retired after 28 years from the Memphis City School System as an Administrator. Doris was a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church and The MS Homemakers Association, where she served 2 years as secretary and 2 years as State President. She willfully volunteered for the Cancer Society and Hospital Auxiliary. Mrs. Hunt is survived by her daughter, Beverly Hunt Witkowski (John) of Peachtree City, GA, son, Dennis Tims (Linda) of Bells, TN, sister Eyvonne Johnson of Memphis, TN ,4 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great granddaughter. In addition to her parents and husband, Doris was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Willie, Wayne, and Milton Castle and one sister Inez Castle Hardy.
