Ret. Major William H. "Buddy" Irwin, Sr.

Ret. Major William H. "Buddy" Irwin, Sr. age 81, passed away, along with his wife, Lynda Boykin Irwin, Tuesday afternoon, July 21, 2015, at Baptist Memorial Hospital- DeSoto in Southaven, Mississippi following an auto accident in Panola County, MS. Memorial services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, July 26, 2015, in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service. Buddy was born January 22, 1934 in Tupelo, MS to the late Elvin and Gertrude Heard Irwin. He was retired from the U.S. Marine Corp, during which time, Buddy was a test fighter pilot. He was also a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. Buddy is survived by his three daughters, Brenna Dawn Irwin Choate of Arlington, TX, Beverly Carrie Irwin of Batesville, MS, Alisa Babette Irwin Maxwell of Maypearl, TX; two borthers, Carl Irwin, Jimmy Irwin of Dayton, OH; six grandchildren, Matthew Choate, Sara Choate, Jason Irwin, Colton Irwin, Cole Maxwell, Cooper Maxwell; two great-grandchildren, Aliza Dawn Thomas and Allie May Thomas. Along with his wife, Lynda Boykin Irwin, Buddy was preceded in death by his son, William H. "Buddy" Irwin, Jr.
