Horace Wayne Potts, age 39, passed away early Sunday morning, July 12, 2015, at his home near Batesville, MS. A celebration of Horace's life will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 14, 2015 in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the family receiving friends Monday evening from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. The interment will follow the service at Forrest Memorial Park in Batesville, MS. Horace was born December 19, 1975 in Batesville, MS to Larry Wayne and Shirley Henry Potts. He was member of Enon Baptist Church and worked as a truck driver and farmer. Horace was much more than just a truck driver and farmer as his formal occupation precedes him. During his short life here on earth, Horace was a people person. He loved making people laugh, and always lending a helping hand to anyone in need. Horace lived life for today, whether if it was hunting, fishing (hand grabbling), riding horses or even bull riding, Horace always did it with no fear. He also loved animals, traveling, swimming, and shooting his guns. Horace leaves behind his most cherished possessions, daughter, Hannah Potts of Batesville, MS; son, Hunter Potts of Hardy, MS; parents, Larry Wayne and Shirley Henry Potts; two sisters, Chesley Potts Blair (Richard) and April Potts Taylor (Kenneth) both of Batesville, MS; niece, Lauren Green of Batesville, MS; nephews, David Mockbee, III (Ashley) and Austin Taylor of Batesville, MS; step-nieces, Brooke Taylor and Hope Blair of Batesville, MS; step-newphews, Brandon Taylor, Landon and Bradon Blair all of Batesville, MS; great-nephew, Travis Mockbee of Batesville, MS and a host of uncles, aunts and cousins. He also leaves behind some special people in his life, longtime partner, Michelle Brassell; special friend Nickie Berryhill; ex-wife, Gina McMilliam Potts, mother of his children; and life long friend, David Jenkins. Since Horace fought a short battle with cancer, the family ask that anyone wishing to send memorials in his memory, please forward those to the Panola County Relief Fund, c/o Red Hudson, 447 John Branch Road, Batesville, MS 38606. This fund supports local cancer patients and Horace was a benefactor of this fund as well.
