Visitation will be Tuesday, 2/3/09, at Wells Funeral Home from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Mr. Burkes was born on June 27, 1922 in Shawnee, OK to Andrew & Zoe Tanehill Burkes. Mr. Burkes was a member of the Eureka United Methodist Church. He was employeed with Panola Mills in Batesville, MS where he retired as Plant Manager. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II in the South Pacific. He leaves his daughter: Susan Berry of Courtland, MS; his son: Stan Burkes of Mobile, AL and 2 grandchildren.
