Gordon R. Thetford

Gordon R. Thetford, age 66, passed away Friday afternoon, May 8, 2015 at Baptist Memorial Hospital of North MS in Oxford, MS. The family will be celebrating Gordon's life Monday afternoon, May 11, 2015, at 2:00 P.M. in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with visitation beginning one hour prior to the service. Mr. Hal Johnson will be officiating the service. Gordon was born October 5, 1948 in Lambert, MS to the late Willie Joe Thetford and Irene Shields Taylor. He worked for Muscle Shoal here in Batesville for many years until the factory closed. Gordon then began to work as a commercial and residential painter. In his past time, Gordon enjoyed the outdoors and fishing. Gordon is survived by his son, Matthew St. John of Ft. Bragg, NC; sister, Annie Ruth Putman of Sardis, MS; two brothers, Ricky and Eddie Taylor of Sardis, MS; four nieces, April Taylor of Batesville, MS, Wendy Taylor of Horn Lake, MS, Darlene Thetford Pritchard of Oxford, MS, Dixie Thetford of Batesville, MS; nephew, Danny "Bubba" Thetford, Jr. of Batesville, MS and two grandchildren.
