Martin "Slick" Willingham, age 87, passed away Friday morning, April 24, 2015 at Tri-Lakes Medical Center in Batesville, MS.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, April 26, 2015 at Wells Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in Magnolia Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. The Reverends Glyn Wiygul, Ed Temple and Dr. Martin Case will be officiating the services.
Slick was born September 30, 1927 in Panola County, MS to the late Grady and Natalie Martin Willingham. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during WW II. After thirty-eight years, Slick retired from Tennessee Gas Company located west of Batesville, MS, and he spent the next fifteen years working for Wells Funeral Home. Slick was an intrinsical part of serving and growing Wells Funeral Home into what it is today. He was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church of Batesville, MS where he was a memner of the Wesleyan Sunday School Class. Slick also was a fifty year member of the Panola Masonic Lodge #66 and a 32nd Degree Scottish Rights Member.
His memory will be most cherished by his loving wife of 62 years, Rita Caldwell Willingham of Batesville, MS; daughter, Allison Willingham Thomas (Edwin) of Holandale, MS; son, Kirk C. Willingham of Batesville, MS; three grandchildren, Colton Thomas, Claire Thomas and Addison Willingham.
