James Robert "Bobby" Hudson, age 82, passed away Wednesday afternoon, April 22, 2015, at Tri-lakes Medical Center in Batesville, MS.
Funeral services for Mr. Hudson will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2015, at 2:00 PM at Hebron Baptist Church in Sardis, MS. Interment will be at Magnolia Cemetery, Batesville, MS. Reverend Terry Triblle will officiate the services. The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 at Wells Funeral Home on Friday evening, April 24, 2015.
Bobby was born to Robert and Mary Barker Hudson on September 3, 1932, in Panola County, Mississippi. He proudly served his country during the Korean War in the Air Force as a Airman, 2nd Class. After 28 years Mr. Hudson retired as a Detective for the City of Memphis Police.
During his life Mr. Bobby was deeply involved in many religious and civic organizations. Notably, he was the past President of the Methodist Men's Club, speaker and member of the Gideon's International, Deacon at Hebron Baptist Church, member of the Prison Ministry and also a member of the Retired Police Association. Mr. Hudson was a member of the Hebron Baptist Church.
Those who Bobby leaves behind to cherish his blessed memory include his wife of sixty-one years; Lorene Foster Hudson of Sardis, MS, three sons; Richard Hudson (Robin), James Carlton Hudson (Jeannie), Douglas Foster Hudson (Christy), four grandchildren; Dexter Hudson, Nick Hudson, Matthew Hudson, Dalton Hudson, two great-grandchildren; Caleb Hudson, Destiny Hudson.
Besides his parents, Mr. Hudson was preceded in death by his sister; Nell Hudson Bagley, and brother; John "Big John" Hudson
The family ask that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made in Mr. Bobby's honor to the Gideons International or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital .
