Video Memorial TributeThoughtfully Produced By:Wells Funeral HomeNancy Clower Self,  3:45 A.M. on Tuesday, December 9th, 2008, Nancy Clower Self woke up at the feet of Jesus after a valliant year-long fight with ovarian cancer. She was 71 years old. She was born and reared in the Hillsboro community in Scott county, the youngest child of Louise LLoyd Clower and John Sim Clower. She attended school in Forest and graduated high school at age 16. She was a graduate ofMississippi College and enjoyed a successful 30-year career as an Educator. She taught elementary school in New Orleans, LA, while her husband attended seminary, but the majority of her teaching years were in the public school system of the state of Mississippi. Over the years, she taught youngstersall the way from Biloxi to Batesville and cities in between. She was a passionate teacher who loved her students and fellow teachers. Many were blessed to have called "Miss Self" their teacher. In addition to teaching, she and her husband, Robert, worked along side eachother for over 45 years in the ministry of the gospel of Jesus Christ. She tirelessly supported her husband as he pastored churches throughout Mississippi. She was an exemplary pastor's wife and help mate. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Edna Louise Clower, and her brother, John Lloyd Clower.She is survived by the love of her life, Dr. Robert E. Self ("Bro. Bob"), her children, Angie Self Russell (Van), Robert Todd Self (Donna), and Jon Mark Self (Heather), 13 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and many nieces & nephews. She was especially blessed these last years to have had a special friend and caretaker, Terry Hollingsworth. She counted the many friends and members of Friendship Baptist Church in Grenada to have also been her "family." Visitation is Thursday, December 11, 5-8 P.M. The funeral is Friday,December 12, at 1 P.M. Both will be at Friendship Baptist Church in Grenada,MS. Interment at Bethel Methodist Church cemetery, Enid, MS. Memorials may be made to Friendship Baptist Church building fund or Oxford Recovery Ministry to provide the Life Recovery Bible to addicts and alcoholics. Either memorial may be sent to Friendship Baptist Church, 475 Pea Ridge Road, Grenada, MS, 38901, and designated as such.
