Robert F. Campbell, age 89, passed away early Saturday morning, February 7, 2015, at his home in Pope, Mississippi. Robert is the husband to the late, Joan Wray Campbell.
The family will celebrate Mr. Campbell's life 2:00 o'clock P.M. Monday, February 9, 2015 at Wells Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in Shiloh Cemetery near Courtland, MS. The family will receive friends Sunday evening, February 8, 2015 from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Wells Funeral Home. The Reverends Scott Curtis and Raymond Aven will be officiating. The grandsons honored to serve as pallbearers will be, Thad Campbell, Kevin Campbell, Brett Lott, Tyler Lott, Adam Major, and Ty Campbell.
Robert was born August 31, 1925 in Pope, MS tot he late Marion Lister and Alma Lea Whitten Campbell. He was a retired equipment operator for M.D.O.T. and a faithful member of Wray's Chapel Church of God until his health kept him from attending on a regular basis. Robert honorable served his country in the U.S. Army during WW II. He had a special love for Bluegrass music.
Robert leaves behind his loving family of four daughters, Sherry Campbell Martin (Darrell) of Batesville, MS, Nancy Campbell Major(the late Alvie) of Batesville, MS, Jill Campbell Addington (Mike) of Batesville, MS, Peggy Campbell Lott (Dennis) of Batesville, MS; three sons, Mike Campbell (Brenda) of Pope, MS, Steve Campbell of Pope, MS, Tim "Sparky" Campbell of Pope, MS; sister, Martha Barrett of Hernando, MS; brother, Larry Campbell of Pope, MS; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
The family of Mr. Campbell asks that anyone wishing to make a memorial contribution to send those to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905
