Marguerite G. Nabors

Marguerite Goode Nabors, age 95, passed away at Tri Lakes Medical Center, January 27, 2015. Marguerite is the widow of the late Hubert William Nabors. Funeral services for Mrs. Nabors will be held Friday January 30, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Batesville First United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Batesville. Reverend Ed Temple will officiate the service with Reverend Martin Case assisting. Born November 5, 1919, in Clay County to Ned Spaulding Goode and Edna Frances McFadden Goode, she was the last surviving of eight children. She was married to Hubert William Nabors for 57 years until his death in 1996. Mrs. Nabors lived in North Mississippi all her life, moving from east to west when her husband's job with MDOT transferred their family from Tupelo to Pontotoc, and finally to Batesville in 1964. She was always a homemaker but worked part-time as a sale clerk at Shackeroff's. A lifelong Methodist, she joined the Epworth League in her youth and continued to be actively involved in the church that she loved. She was a member of First United Methodist Church where she was in the Truth Seekers Sunday School Class and served in leadership positions in the United Methodist Women. For over 30 years she was a faithful member of Explorer's Bible Study. She leaves two children: Marilyn Nabors Green and her husband Wilson of Orlando, Florida, and Eddie Hubert Nabors and his wife Erin of Batesville: five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
