Mrs. Lois Johnson Browning, 94, went to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday October 14, 2008 at Baptist Memorial Hospital - North MS. in Oxford, MS. Friends are welcome from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Wells Funeral Home Wednesday October 15, 2008. There will also be a visitation Thursday from 1:00 P.M. till services at 2:00 P.M. Thursday at Shady Grove Baptist Church with interment in Shady Grove Cemetery. Mr. Sammy Lansdell and Reverend Rusty Roberson will officiate. Pallbearers are David Browning, David Manning, Darrell Manning, Clay Lansdell, Patrick Graham, Craig Clark, James Browning, Keith Browning, Timmy Browning ,Mike Scruggs and Randy Scruggs. She was born August 13, 1914 to Andrew David and Bessie Naomi Snipes Johnson in Marshall County, Ms. Mrs. Lois was a loving Mother and Grandmother who was an active member of the phone ministry at Shady Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. Lois loved working word puzzle books, truly enjoyed cooking Chicken & Dumplins and loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. Mrs. Browning was an active link in many prayer chains and her life’s desire was to see that her whole family knew the Lord. She is survived by her six daughters, Betty Jean Manning of Batesville, MS, Bessie Marie Scruggs of West Point, MS, Sarah Graham of Dorsey, MS. Ila Mae Clark of Pontotoc, MS, Margie Dale Harris of Oxford, MS and Alma Lansdell of Saltillo, MS.; Daughter-in-law Teresa M. Browning of Batesville, MS; two sons, Charles David Browning of Ecru, MS and Gaither Douglas Browning of Batesville, MS; special Niece and Caregiver Charlene Houston; 19 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gaither Curtis Browning; two sons James Howard Browning and Billy Wayne Browning; one sister Cathrine Browning; one grandson and one great-granddaughter and on brother in-law Bill Clark.
