Funeral services are 10:00 A.M. Tuesday October 14, 2008 at Wells Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Chapel Hill Cemetery in Pope, MS. Friends are welcome from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday October 13, 2008 at Wells Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Albert Beard, Larry Beard, Bruce Pennington, Dan Beard, William Beard and Ricky Beard. Douglas was born February 3, 1945 to the late John and Addie White Beard in Panola County, MS. He had retired from the Army National Guard after 32 years of service and also retired from Utley Properties. He was a member of Courtland Baptist Church. Douglas is survived by his wife Rose Mary Perkins Beard of Batesville, MS; two sons Kenneth Beard of Pope, MS and David Beard of Batesville, MS; one sister Virginia Duke of Batesville, MS; three brothers J.W. Beard , Robert Beard both of Batesville, MS and Thomas Beard of Mexico; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
