Bettye Henry

Elizabeth "Bettye" Jewell Henry, age 87, passed away at her home in Sardis, MS Friday, October 17, 2014. Ms. Henry is the widow of the late Sherrill P. Henry. The family will receive friends at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 18th at Peach Creek Baptist Church. Funeral services for Mrs. Henry will be held after the visitation at 3:00. Interment will follow at Longtown Cemetery. Bettye was born June 7, 1927 to the late Bondy H. Mooneyhan and Ala L. Curtis Mooneyhan in Sledge MS. During her life she worked as the postmaster for the U.S. Postal Service in Darling, MS from which she retired. She was an active member of Peach Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Henry is survived by her son, H.P. "Sonny" Henry (Linda) of Sardis MS; three grandsons, G. Curt Henry of St. Ignatius, Montana, Jason W. Henry of Sardis, MS, Joshua R. Henry of Hernando, MS; six great-grandchildren, Stephanie Verdell (Jordan) of Bryant, AR, Eric P. Henry (Katy) of West Fork, AR, Hunter Henry (Erica), Tristen Henry, Amanda Henry, and Raylan Henry, all of Sardis, MS; and three great great-grandsons, Landen Verdell, Lawson Verdell and Zion Tipton-Henry. In addition to her parents, and her husband of 62 years, Sherrill P. Henry, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold L. Mooneyhan, B.H. Mooneyhan, and D. Wayne Mooneyhan, and one sister, Faye M. Klyce. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Mrs. Mary Medina and Grace Hospice for the loving care and assistance provided to Mrs. Henry during the past few years. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
