Gladys Thweatt Douglas, age 92, passed away from her earthly life Sunday, October 12, 2014 at Providence Assisted Living Home in Batesville, MS. Ms. Douglas is the widow of the late Arthur Merle Douglas.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Wells Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in Forrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Wells Funeral Home. Dr. Tommy Snyder and Reverend John Howell, Jr. will be officiating the service.
Gladys was born September 19, 1922 in Paris, MS to the late Milton Lafayette and Daisy Pruitt Thweatt. Mrs. Douglas was a sixth grade English Teacher for 32 years that was well recognized and respected for her teaching abilities, but most of all, for her caring and loving way in which she taught her students. Her love for her Lord was very noticeable as she was a member of the First Baptist Church where Gladys was a former Sunday School Teacher, WMU Leader and Training Union Leader. She was active in the Explorers Bible Study and member of the Eastern Star while also being a member of Phi Delta Kappa.
Gladys leaves a rich legacy with her son, Phil Douglas (Nancy) of Batesville, MS; three grandchildren, Chris Douglas, T.J. Douglas, Beth Douglas Cabrera (Sergio); four great-grandchildren, Saxtin Douglas, Siena Cabrera, Nadia Cabrera, and Sergio Douglas Cabrera.
