Martha Downs Brewer

Martha Jane Downs Brewer, age 83, passed away Saturday evening, September 27, 2014 in Batesville, MS. She was the widower of the late Marvin Weson Brewer. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at Liberty Hill Baptist Church in Pope, MS with interment to follow in Liberty Hill Cemetery. Reverend Clay Baker will be officiating the services. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5:00 to 8:00, September 29, 2014 at Wells Funeral Home, and also one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the Liberty Hill Baptist Church. Martha was born May 14, 1931 in Leake County, Mississippi to the late Arthur Downs and Jessie Della Beckham Downs. Martha was a retired factory worker and later in her years she was a caregiver for many in her community. Her loving memory will be cherished by her four daughters; Jessie Carol Brewer Wright of Tupelo, MS, Sid Brewer File of Pope, MS, Kathryn Brewer Wright of Courtland, MS, and Billie Brewer Johnson of Courtland, MS. Her three sons; Danny Brewer, Jerry Brewer, and Barry Brewer, all of Courtland, MS. Her two sister Ruby Downs Nardozi of Batesville MS, and Quay Whitten of Tupelo MS. Her brother Billy Downs of Batesville, MS; 15 Grandchildren and 23 Great Grandchildren.
