Keuttah "Kay" Goswick Kennemore

December 30, 1931 — September 25, 2014

Keuttah "Kay" Goswick Kennemore, age 82, passed away early Thursday morning, September 25, 2014, at her near Sardis, MS. Mrs. Kennemore is the widow of the late Henry Howard Kennemore, Sr. Kay was born in Mayfield, Oklahoma on December 30, 1931 to William Charles "Charlie" and Amanda BC "Bea" McClure Goswick. She was the fifth of eleven children. On November 11, 1947, Kay married Henry Howard Kennemore and began her life as a Naval Officers wife. While traveling from East Coast to West Coast following Howards military career, Kay became a strong and independent woman. She was said to have "kept the home fires burning" by rearing their five children while Howard was out to sea for months at a time. Upon her husbands retirement, Kay and her family moved to Osceola, Arkansas. During these years she went back to school and earned her GED and latter attended nursing school where she received her license and degree as an LPN. Kay worked at the Osceola Memorial Hospital and also was the Plant Nurse at Union Carbide in Osceola, Arkansas. After retiring again, Kay and her family moved to Sardis, Mississippi. Sardis would serve as home to them for many years. It was here where Kay and her love became avid fisherman. But to Kay, her greatest pastime was researching the Goswick Family History. In the 1980's she published a book of her findings. This was one of her finest achievements. Those who Kay leaves behind to cherish her blessed memory include one daughter, Sharon Kennemore Forehand (James) of Sardis, Mississippi; three sons, Henry Howard Kennemore Jr. of Sardis, Mississippi, Ross L. Kennemore of Water Valley, Mississippi, and Daniel E. Kennemore of Sardis, Mississippi; one brother, Ross Goswick; 14 Grandchildren; 12 Great Grandchildren; and 1 Great Great-Grandchild. Besides her husband and parents, Kay was preceded in death by one daughter Patricia Ann Kennemore Hopper; five sisters, Connie Jordan, Betty Vann, "Boots" Hilderbradt, Charlene Flanigan, and Patrica VanKirk; and two brothers Otis Goswick and Dolph Goswick.
