Eddie was born on August 14, 1964, to the late Herbert Cornelius & Wilma Joyce Waycaster Jones, in Lambert, MS. Having spent all his life in and around the Quitman County area, he was a graduate of the 1984 Class of QC and went on to attend the University of Alabama. Throughout his adolescent years, Eddie was engrossed in community & school sporting activities. Fishing was also among his hobbies. Professionally, many will recall Jones’s work as an EMT & X-Ray Technician. From North & South Panola Hospitals, then on to BMH-NMS, and lastly in Grenada, MS, at the Grenada Lake Medical Center; he enjoyed his work in the medical field. After suffering from numerous back injuries on the job, Eddie was forced to retire at an early age. Because of his love for sports, and an even deeper love for his two sons, Jones began to volunteer his time in 2008, as a coach, for each sport the boys were involved with. Eddie spent countless hours volunteering on the sidelines and gathering stats for the Delta Raiders football, baseball & basketball programs. From pee wee teams to varsity, he encouraged the students from the sidelines. Those family members whom will cherish his memory include, his wife of 26 years, Donna Austin Jones of Marks, MS; two sons, Austin Jones & Kyle Jones also of Marks; three sisters, Cynthia Jones Russell of Batesville, MS, Janie Jones Jenkins of Oxford, MS & Georganna Ward Weeks of Batesville, MS and mother-in-law, Mary Ann Austin of Crowder, MS. In lieu of flowers, an account has been set up to assist with education expenses. Anyone wishing to contribute can forward donations to: Delta Academy, P.O.
