James Dowdle, age 74, passed away Saturday, August 23, 2014 at his home in Courtland, MS. Funeral Services for Mr. Dowdle will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 27, 2014 , at Wells Funeral Home in Batesville, MS with interment to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Grenada, MS. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday August 26, 2014 at Wells Funeral Home. Reverend Derrick Simmons will officiate the service. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Dowdle of Courtland MS; 3 daughters, Marnie Ann McElroy of Troup, TX, Sandra Gale Holt of Picayune, MS, and Karen Jenkins of Courtland, MS; 2 sons James Edward Dowdle, Jr. of Troup, TX, and Timothy James Dowdle of Mantachie, MS; 2 step-sons Rodney Dale Brown of Pontotoc, MS, and Jason Tyrone Brown of Tupelo, MS; 1 sister Mary Alice Havens of Batesville, MS; and 1 brother Archie Dowdle of Cruger, MS; 10 Grand Children Kyle Neal, Hunter Dowdle, Dustin Dowdle, Miguel Reyes, Misty Jenkins, Phillip Farve, Kaitlyn Farve, Amber Brown, Emily Lauren Brown, Sara Beth Brown; and 3 Great Grandchildren Jed Dowdle, Zoey Jane Dowdle, Summer Dudley. Mr. Dowdle was preceded in death by his father, Randolph Dowdle, his mother, Addie Mae Ross Dowdle, grandson, Armando Reyes-Jaurez, and sister, Katie Mae Byrd. Pallbearers will be Randall Dowdle, Sammy Dowdle, Archie Lee Dowdle Jr., Brandon Havens, Phillip Farve, and Chris Dowdle.
