Sunday, September 7, 2008 at Enon Baptist Church in Batesville, Ms. with interment to follow in Crowder Cemetery.  Reverend James Clutter will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5-8 P.M. Saturday, September 6, 2008 at Wells Funeral Home.  Mrs. Helmes was born August 6, 1916 in Chickasaw County, Ms. to the late Hosey Newton and Margaret Caroline Martin White.  Jewel was a homemaker and member of Enon Baptist Church.She is survived by two daughters, Dorothy Nell Helmes Roberson of Batesville Ms. and Theresa Sissy Helmes Moore of Batesville, Ms.; four sons, Billy Loise Helmes, Bobby Frank Helmes and Tony Newton Helmes all of Batesville, Ms. and Jimmy Dale Helmes of Pope, Ms. Mrs. Helmes also leaves behind 23 Grandchildren, 32 Great Grandchildren and 8 Great-Great Grandchildren. Jewel was preceded in death by two daughters, Margaret Sides and Ginger Helmes Gray and her son, Kyle Helmes.The family asks that memorials be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Plaza, Memphis, Tn. 38105 or Enon Baptist Church, 7420 Dummyline Rd., Batesville, Ms.  38606.
