Charles Lonzo Martin

Charles L. Martin, age 76, of Pope, MS, passed away on Friday morning, July 18, 2014 in Oxford, Mississippi, at Baptist Memorial Hospital, North Mississippi. The funeral will be 10:00 a.m. Sunday, July 20, 2014, at Whosoever Church of God, Pope, MS, with Rev. Matt Hill officiating. Interment will follow in Crowder Cemetery. Those honored to serve as Pallbearers include: Jamie Woodall, Brian Kennedy, Randy Martin, Bubba Martin, Austin Terry and Dustin Pecou. Honorary bearers will be David Martin, Jerry Martin, Tommy Golden and T.J. Kennedy. Visitation will be held from 3:00-8:00 p.m. on Saturday, at the church. Charles Martin was born to the late Archie Homer & Clara Austin Martin on October 7, 1937, in Marks, Mississippi. Mr. Martin was a farmer and member of Whosoever Church of God. He leaves his loving wife of 52 years, Nellie Fisk Martin; 4 daughters, Regina Redwine of Big Creek, MS, Linda Rikard (Ray) of Pope, Rita Russell (Butch) of Batesville and Malissa Hester (Paul) of Pope; 2 sons, Luke Thomas Martin (Vicky) of Pope & Eugene Martin (Barbara) of Crowder; one sister, Virginia Earby of Selma, AL and one brother, Vernon Martin of Greenwood, MS; 12 grandchildren, Anessa, Christine, Nikki, Thomas Jr.(Bubba), Brian, T.J., Hailey, Keely, Jake, Austin; 27 great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Lucille Gordon and Edna Haire.
