Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday August 23, 2008 at Wells Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Chapel Hill Cemetery in Pope, MS. Visitation Friday August 22, 2008 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Mr. Murphree was born December 5, 1926 in Oakland, Al. to the late William Leland and Bessie Hall Murphree. He was a member of the Batesville Church of Christ and served his country in the U.S. Navy during WW II. He is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Lipe Murphree of Pope, Ms.; two sons, William J. Murphree of Bowling Green, Ky. and Joe D. Murphree of Tallahassee, Fl.; one sister, Sarah Jean Murphree Meredith of Park City, Mo., four grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
