Mr. Cecil Pitcock, age 93, passed away Tuesday morning, 4/22/14, in Tupelo, MS at the Sanctuary Hospice House. The funeral will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 25, 2014 at Liberty Hill Baptist Church, with Dr. Gary Berry presiding. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The Pitcock family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home.Cecil was born to Willie Earl & Osie Lee Walker Pitcock on August 20, 1920 in Pope, Mississippi. Mr. Pitcock served as a Private in the United States Army, during World War II. He was self employed, for 28 years, as a mechanic and then went on to work for the Enid Lake Corps of Engineers being their Facility Manager. As a lifetime member of the Pope community, Cecil proudly served three terms as the Mayor of Pope. He was a member of the Pope Lions Club and was formerly on the Board of Directors for the Pope-Courtland Water Association. Mr. Pitcock was also a member of the Pope Baptist Church. Those family members who will cherish the legacy left by Mr. Pitcock include his wife of 73 years, Maebelle Davis Pitcock of Pope, MS; 3 daughters, LaJean Grannan of Cordova, TN, Nell Lillard (Tom) of Germantown, TN and Dale Baker (Roy) of Melbourne, FL; 2 sons, Carey Pitcock (Ginger) of Huntsville, AL and Jim Pitcock (Linda) of Pope, MS; 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.He was preceded by one granddaughter, Leslie Ross Pitcock and 2 grandsons, Toby Shane Pitcock & John Deaton Lillard.The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to The Toby Pitcock Ministry & Mission Fund, Mississippi Baptist Foundation, P.O.
