Hugh Mixon

Hugh Mixon, age 82, passed away Thursday evening, April 17, 2014 at his home.Funeral services for Mr. Mixon will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, 4/22/14 at Wells Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Hal Johnson officiating.  Interment will  follow in Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m Monday evening, 4/21/14, at Wells.  Those men honored to serve as pallbearers are:  Mike Mixon, Jerry Mixon, Michael Mixon,  Chris Robison, Al Reed and Jimmy Carlini.Hugh was born to Violet B. Magee & Jesse J. Mixon on May 15, 1931 in Water Valley, MS.  He retired from Yates Construction as a heavy equipment operator.  Prior to Yates, he was employed by Pine Bluff Sand & Gravel and also Chancery & Coin Company.  Mr. Hugh will be loved and missed by his family members, which include his wife, of nearly 64 years, Dorothy Ford Mixon of Courtland, MS and two sons, Mark (Tammy) Mixon of Courtland and Randy Mixon of Smyrna, TN; one sister, Rita Mixon Caldwell of Cookville, TN and a brother, CharlesMixon of Georgia; 5 grandchildren:  Everette, Mallory, Merideth, Katelyn and Kristian and 2 great grandsons, Rylee Mixon & Daxton Kelly.Besides his parents, Mr. Mixon was preceded in death by one son, Ronnie Mixon; 3 sisters, Betty Jane Ford, Bonnie Wolfe & Bessie Upchurch; 3 brothers: Ted Mixon, Jimmy Mixon and Shelby Mixon.
