Ms. Janie Eubanks Vick, age 92, passed away Monday evening, April 7, 2014, at Carpenter House in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was a former resident of Panola County, Mississippi.Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2014 in Wells Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Derrick Simmons officiating. Interment will follow in Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery. The Vick family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Friday.Janie was born to James William & Annie Pearl Berry Eubanks on June 4, 1921 in Panola County, Mississippi. She attended Northwest College and Southeastern Community College. Mrs. Vick was a retiree from the MS Department of Rehabilitation Services, but the title she was most proud of, was that of excellent homemaker. Mrs. Janie was an astute cook, gardener and seamstress. She was a member of several missionary societies as well as Baptist Woman's organizations throughout her adult life. Formerly she was a member of Alta Woods Presbyterian Church in Jackson, MS and Conway Baptist Church of Conway, AR.Those she leaves behind to continue her legacy, include her husband of over 73 years, Samuel B. Vick, Jr. of Baton Rouge, LA; 3 daughters, Vivian Lehman also of Baton Rouge, Diane McMahan of Woodstock, GA and Janie Ruth Gibbons of Tulsa, OK; 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.Besides her parents, Mrs. Vick was preceded in death by one son, Samuel Bruce Vick, III and 10 siblings.
