Johnnie Allen Sparks

Johnnie Allen Sparks, age 63, passed away Monday evening, March 31, 2014, at Baptist Memorial Hospital of North MS in Oxford, MS.  The funeral will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 4, 2014, in Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Pope, Mississippi. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Friday at Wells Funeral Home.  Mr. Sparks was born to Johnny Loyd and Mary Louise Nowell Sparks on September 27, 1950 in Memphis, Tennessee. Johnnie was retired printer at Varsity Press in Memphis. He was also an active member of Abundant Life Church in Batesville, Mississippi, as well as a devoted father and grandfather.  Those he leaves behind includes his daughter, Christina Lynn Basso Sparks of Casper, Wyoming; two sons David Allen Sparks and Michael Arron Sparks both of Pope, Mississippi; father Johnny Loyd Sparks of Memphis, Tennessee; two sisters Kathy Johnson Sparks of Selmer, Tennessee and Linda Gray Sparks of Memphis, Tennessee; four grandchildren Brooke Lynn Sparks, Sandra Nicole Sparks, Jessica Erin Sparks, and David Allen Sparks, Jr.  Mr. Sparks was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Louise Nowell Sparks. Those serving as pallbearers include: Thomas Hailey, Terry Ivy, Tim Jenkins, Thomas Booker, Harvey Williamson, Jim Prevallie, and George Fondern.
