Roy D. Melton

Roy D. Melton, age, 71, passed away Thursday afternoon, 2/13/14, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center, Batesville, MS.Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, 2/15/14, at the First United Pentecostal Church, Batesville, MS with Rev. Jay Teague presiding.  Interment will follow in Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Batesville.  The family will greet friends and loved ones from 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning, until service time at the church.Serving as pallbearers:  Tyler Melton, Daniel Melton, Drew Melton, Drake Melton, Brandon Ott and Kevin Ott.Roy was born to John Leonard & Donnie Stafford Melton on July 20, 1942 in Quitman County, Mississippi.  He was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church of Batesville.  Until retirement he, was a farm equipment mechanic at Brasell's John Deere in Batesville.  Those loved ones he leaves behind include his wife, Linda McCarty Melton of Sardis, MS; 2 daughters, Dorothy Melton Ott of Oxford, MS, Connie Keen Hudspeth of Sarah, MS; 3 sons, Gerald G. Melton of Sardis, Chris R. Melton of Water Valley, MS and Ronald W. Keen of Sardis; one sister, Betty Lou Melton of Oxford, MS and 2 brothers, Otis Melton of Courtland, MS and Darrell Melton of Pope, MS; 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers:  William Melton, Doyle Melton and Otis Melton, twin of Otis Melton.
