Alicia Dickson Goodnite

February 9, 1952 — January 19, 2014

Alicia Dickson Goodnite, 61, wife of George Goodnite, passed Sunday morning, January 19, 2014 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, TN. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 22, 2014, at the First Baptist Church, 104 Panola Ave., Batesville, MS with interment to follow in Rosehill Cemetery, Sardis, MS. Visitation will begin at Noon on Wednesday at the church and continue until service time. Proudly serving as pallbearers are: Bart Broome, Dane Broome, Jim Simmons, Steve Calvert, Bill Theisman and Bradly Leggett. Alicia was born on February 9, 1952 to Sarah Kline Dickson & Nolan Stuart Dickson, Jr. She was a devoted member of First Baptist Church, Batesville. While serving at FBChurch, she taught Sunday School for many years, and was currently teaching 11th-12th grade girls. Alicia was a studious member of Explorer's Bible Study. She was also active in the Kirois Prison Ministry. Mrs. Goodnite participated in facilitating and being a part of Walk to Emmaus during her Christian life. She was devoted not only to being a follower of Christ, but also to 'Serving' her Lord Jesus Christ daily and those He placed in her life. She was a devoted and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Among her hobbies, she enjoyed gardening and cooking. Many people recall Alicia's flair for floral design. As some will note, she was extremely talented! Alicia was also an advocate for Home Schooling, having taught her youngest daughter in their home. From 1991-1995, she and her husband, owned Goodnite's Bakery & Deli. To continue to live out her legacy, she leaves her husband of 25 years, George Goodnite of Batesville; 2 daughters, Laura Ogg (Stephen) of Hernando, MS and Elizabeth Goodnite of Memphis, TN; one son, Matthew Hardison of Santa Rosa Beach, FL; 2 sisters, Margaret Leggett of Memphis, TN and Ann Newman of Batesville, MS; 5 brothers, Stuart Dickson of Colorado Springs, CO, Will Dickson of Memphis, Tom Dickson of Senatobia, MS, Jimmy Diskson of Memphis, TN and Sam Dickson also of Memphis; 2 grandchildren, Sam Ogg & Peter Ogg.
