Jessie Lamar Standard

Jessie "Lamar" Standard, age 75, passed away Wednesday morning, 1/15/14, in Tallahatchie County Extended Care Facility, Charleston, MS. The funeral service for Mr. Standard will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday morning, 1/17/14, in Wells Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Gary Berry presiding. Interment will follow in Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation for Mr. Standard will be one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 A.M. Lamar was born on November 18, 1938, to Leonard Lamar & Willie Mae Shipp Standard in Pope, Mississippi. Mr. Standard was a member of Pope Baptist Church. Lamar worked for D&N Motors in Batesville, as a Car Salesman for years. But many will recall the family store, Standard's Grocery, which he owned and operated for 15 years. Throughout his lifetime, Mr. Standard enjoyed deer hunting. His survivors include his wife, Doris Jean Dillon Standard, of Pope, MS; one daughter, Brenda Dubois also of Pope; son, Randy Standard (DeeDee) of Batesville, MS; one sister, Patsy Murphy of Pope, MS; 2 brothers, Joe Wayne Standard of Enid, MS, and Terry Standard of Missouri; along with 5 grandchildren, Chris Gianelloni, Dillon Dubois, Ethan Murphree, Emily Standard and Eli Standard.
