Video Memorial TributeRobert Harold Gladney, age 71, passed away Saturday, 12/28/13, near Batesville, MS.
A funeral service for Mr. Gladney will be held Thursday, January 2, 2013, at the Batesville Prebyterian Church beginning at 12:00 Noon. The family will receive friends prior to the service starting at 10:30 A.M. at the church. Interment will follow in Magnolia Cemetery in Batesville, MS. Serving as pallbearers for Mr. Gladney: Briggs Smith, Taylor Riddick, Chuck Nix, Jack Lewis Robison, Don Kilgore and Ray Poole.
Robert was born in Batesville on August 3, 1942, to Dixie (Scruggs) and Charles H. Gladney. He was a 1960 graduate of Batesville High School as well as an Arkansas State University graduate where he played football and was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity.
Robert was a Realtor, earning a designation from the Farm and Land Institute, a farmer, and part owner of a healthcare company. A lifelong member of Batesville Presbyterian Church, he was also ordained as and served as a deacon and elder. He loved the church and fondly remembered attending with his grandparents, parents, and later his own family.
He is survived by his son Tom, (Andrea) of Olive Branch, MS, daughter, Elesha G. Tucker (Troy) of Lubbock, TX, son, Garth of Hernando, MS, and sister, Charlayne G. Lamb (Richard) of Batesville, MS. Grandchildren include Mary Morgan Gladney, Ellie Tucker, and Austen Tucker.
