Video Memorial TributeWilliam Thomas "Billy"  Evans, age 79, passed away early Friday morning, November 8, 2013 at North Oak Regional Medical Center in Senatobia, MS. A Graveside service will be 3:30 p.m., Sunday, 11/10/13 in Rosehill Cemetery, Sardis, MS. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday at Wells Funeral Home in Batesville, MS. Mr. Hal Johnson will be officiating. Mr. Evans was born to Willie Ray Evans, Sr. & Lela Massie Evans on October 6, 1934 in Water Valley, Mississippi. He was a member of Como Baptist Church. For over 40 years William was the owner of Evans Sand and Gravel Company, Sardis, MS. He served in the Mississippi Army National Guard. Mr. Evans hobbies included hunting Quail and playing golf. Those loved ones he leaves behind include his wife, Georgia Fennell Evans of Como; 3 daughters: Lynn Evans Rice (Joel) of Batesville, MS, Pam Evans West (Nolan) of Sardis, MS and Carol Evans Short (Rob) of Wichita, KS; one son, Mike Evans (Natalie) of Batesville; his sister, Betty Evans Gurner of Water Valley, MS; one brother, James Henry "Jim" Evans also of Water Valley; 8 grandchildren: Jason & Will Evans, Hunter & Evan West, William Forrest Short & Lindsey Rice Petit & Alex Rice Hallmark along with 2 great grandchildren: Lexi Evans & Georgia Petit. Memorials may be sent to North Delta Schools, 330 Greenwave Lane, Batesville, MS 38606 or a charity of the donor's choice.
