Ms. Janie Lucas, age 61, passed away on October 16, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital, North Mississippi.
Funeral services for Janie will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, 10/18/13 in Wells Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jess Chadwick officiating. Burial to follow in McIvor Cemetery, near Batesville. Visitation will be held from 12:00 until service time on Friday at Wells Funeral Home.
Janie was born to the late Harry Young & Ruby Self Johnson on April 20, 1952 in Sunflower County, MS. She was a graduate of South Panola High School. Janie worked as a Grain Operator for North MS Grain Services.
Her survivors include a husband: Grady Lucas, 2 daughters: Candy Broome of Batesville, and Lacey Lucas-Shipley of Oxford, MS, son, Bubba Lucas of Batesville, 3 sisters: Sadie Glover, Lois Henson and Lisa Tolbert, all of Batesville, 2 brothers: Bubba Johnson and William Earl Johnson also of Batesville, 8 grandchildren: Chelsea Broome, Jake Broome, Tristin Lucas, Brooke Lucas, Cameron Koszyk, Shayden Lucas, Harlow Shipley & Ava Byles.
Besides her parents, Mrs. Janie was preceded by her step-father, John S. "Cigar" Johnson and a grandson, Tyler Broome.
Those honored to be serving as pallbearers include: Tristin Lucas, Jake Broome, Cameron Koszyk, Michael Anthony, Ryan Anthony and Aaron Poynor.
