Mr. James R. "Jerry" Jernigan, age 95, passed away Sunday evening, October 13, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital Oxford.
Funeral services for Mr. Jernigan will be 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, 10/16/13, at Wells Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Terry Tribble presiding. Burial will follow in Hebron Cemetery, Sardis, MS. Visitation will take place from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Wednesday at Wells Chapel.
Jerry was born to Silas & Addie Enfinger Jernigan on November 17, 1917 in Milton, Florida. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Mr. Jernigan was a Licensed Insurance Agent, having written policies for Liberty National Insurance Company for 25 years. Jerry was a member of Hebron Baptist Church. He enjoyed the thrill of racing, whether it was a boat, truck or other vehicle, it didn't even need to have a motor for him to enjoy making it run fast. He would even race matchbox cars.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife: Ruth Neely Jernigan of Sardis, MS.
