Mary Sparks Morrison

Mary Elizabeth Sparks Morrison, age 96, widow of James O. Morrison, passed away Tuesday evening, 9/17/13, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS. The funeral service honoring Mrs. Mary's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 20, 2013, at Wells Funeral Home Chapel, Batesville, MS with Reverend Web Armstrong minister for New Zion Baptist Church, Crystal Springs, MS, officiating. Interment will follow in Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Batesville, MS. Mrs. Morrison's family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Friday, 9/20/13. Mrs. Morrison was born in Panola County, MS to Jessie Lawrence & Clara Mae Lewellen Sparks on September 15, 1917. She farmed alongside her husband and in later years, worked at Garan Industries in Lambert, MS. Mrs. Mary was a member of New Zion Baptist Church, Crystal Springs, MS. Formerly, she was a member of Belen Baptist Church, Lambert, MS. Mary enjoyed cultivating her vegetable and flower gardens for many, many years. Those family members whom she leaves behind include: 2 daughters, Nellie Morrison Wright of Houston, TX and Linda Morrison Ragon of Terry, MS; one son, Jessie Morrison of San Antonio, TX; 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Mrs. Morrison was preceded in death by her husband, James; one son, Eddie Morrison; 3 sisters, Corrine Cobb, Christine Chamblis and Louise Brent; 3 brothers, Lawrence Sparks, John Sparks and Doug Sparks.
