Video Memorial TributeJohn C. Broome, III, age 86, passed away Friday morning, July 5, 2013 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, July 8, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Batesville, MS with Dr. Tommy Snyder officiating. Interment will follow in Magnolia Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time Monday afternoon at the church. Mr. Broome was born to Lucille Todd & John C. Broome, Jr. on February 20, 1927 in Batesville, Mississippi. He worked 36 years across the south and retiring in Batesville from Tennessee Gas Company, as a manager. Mr. John was a member of First Baptist Church and also served in the United States Army during World War II. Among his survivors, he leaves his loving wife, Mrs. Betty Broome of Batesville; 2 sons, Barry Broome (Amy) of Conway, AR, Todd Broome (Julie) of Frisco, TX; daughter, Barbara Broome Crew (Tom) of Cleburne, TX; 3 sisters, Louise Broome Thurman of Bowling Green, KY, Nell Broome Baker of Batesville, MS and Edna Broome Scott of Bartlett, TN; 8 grandchildren, Nathan Broome, Sara Sydes, Hallie Broome, Valerie Kline, Melanie Neill, Jordan Broome, Josh Broome and Rachel Broome; 2 great grandchildren, Kimber Broome and Kolt Neill. Besides his parents, he was preceded by one brother, Robert Broome. The family requests memorial donations be made to First Baptist Church, 104 Panola Ave., Batesville, MS 38606 or the Alzheimers Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
