James Sherman "Jimmy" Meek age 72, husband of Geneva Meek, died Wednesday afternoon 5/29/13 at Tri-Lakes Medical Center Batesville, MS. Funeral services will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, May 31, 2013 at Wells Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Robert Rawson, Rev. Pat Ludlam & Rev. Ed Temple presiding. Interment will follow in Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery. The Meek family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. on Friday at Wells Funeral Home. Jimmy was born on August 29, 1940 in Courtland, MS to George Thomas & Virginia Herron Meek. Mr. Meek was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Batesville, MS. Jimmy was the co-owner of Meek Auto Sales in Batesville for years and years. Many people will remember him as the "King of Used Cars" in and around the Panola County area. Jimmy's survivors include his wife, Geneva Goforth Meek of Batesville, 3 daughters, Angie Richards (Michael) of West Lake, Ohio, Michelle Reese of Berea, Ohio, and Cindy Goforth Sullivan of Batesville, 3 sons, Bobby Meek, Mike Goforth (Debbie), and Ronnie Goforth (Tracy) all of Batesville, one sister, Mary Nell Meek Bright of Courtland, 2 brothers, George W. Meek (Linda) & Charles Sidney Meek (Gayle) both of Courtland, MS, 8 grandchildren, Taylor Meek, Krystal Goforth, Marlee Goforth, Grant Goforth, Tyler Hudson, Fisher Sullivan, Kyle Richards, Andy Barcella and 4 great grandchildren, Alexus Tedford Goforth, Jordan Bailey Goforth, Brylee Meek Barragan and Kamryn Alexus Hudson. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael W. Goforth and a granddaughter, Brittney Reese. Memorials may be sent to the First United Methodist Church, 119 Panola Ave., Batesville, MS 38606. Those who will serve as pallbearers include: Taylor Meek, Grant Goforth, Tyler Hudson, Chad Meek, Jeff Meek, Wally Morgan, Kirk Rowsey, and James Russell.
